Which home sizes fit
Doesn't fit (6 home sizes)
Each home size is a typical furniture list plus the box counts from a moving guide. Our packing fills about 70–80% of a truck; a careful pro load fits more.
Will big items fit?
Tightest fits first. Headroom is the space left above it as loaded; at the door is the clearance getting it in.

Notes on these numbers
SOURCE CAVEAT: every uhaul.com fetch returned ECONNRESET; all values come from WebSearch results that quote uhaul.com pages (the search tool returns a summarized answer with quoted fragments, not the raw page), so check asWritten punctuation against the live page before publishing. U‑Haul states all rental truck and trailer measurements are approximate. Door values are the BACK door opening; no side-door figures found. Deck: van page says 2'5", the comparison table on https://www.uhaul.com/Truck-Rentals/ says 29". outsideHeight 7' is the Ford Transit 'outside vehicle height' on the business page; the van page lists 'Clearance height' 8 ft (disagreement). Business page also lists a GMC Savana van at 9'6" x 5'10" x 4'4" inside with a 4'9" x 4'1" back door; a 2013 U‑Haul blog gave 9'6" x 5'7" x 4'7" and 245 cu ft. No ramp listed. GVW 9,070 lbs. Outside sizes are left out on purpose: the source gives a clearance height or numbers from another page, not the box size. Cross-check 29 Oct 2026, door.width: No independent source gives exactly 5'1"; the current dealer page gives 5'1-1/2". Cross-check 29 Oct 2026, door.height: Only the dated Smith's page matches 4'1"; current dealer page says 4'1-1/2". Cross-check 29 Oct 2026, deckHeight: Only one independent (2019 cheat sheet). 29" on the comparison table is the same value. Cross-check 29 Oct 2026, claimedVolume: Current sources split 246 vs 245. Cross-check 29 Oct 2026, maxLoad: SlashGear 2026 matches; move.org 2025 says 3,880. Wheel wells (29 Oct 2026): U‑Haul runs Ford Transit and GMC Savana vans; between the wells is 54.8 in (Transit, Ford spec) or 52.47 in (Savana). The data uses the smaller. Well length 34 in, height about 11 in and position 14 in from the rear come from one Transit owner's post and a van blog: weak, so marked third-party.
Loading tips for this van
- The door is 4'1" high but the inside is 4'8": tall furniture has to be tilted to get in, then stood up.
- Wheel wells stick up 11" near the back; between them the floor is 4'4½" wide, so wide flat things go in front of them or on top.
- Load heavy furniture and appliances first, against the cab wall, and boxes last on top.
